Former WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (26-1-1, 17 KO’s) will be taking on the hard hitting Travis Walker (34-5-1, 28 KO’s) on Friday night in a scheduled eight round bout at the Universum Gym, Wandsbek, in Hamburg, Germany.

This fight should be nothing more than a formality for the #1 ranked WBA contender Chagaev. However, Walker has both size at 6’4 ½” 253 and knockout power that could give Chagaev problems if he lands something big early in the fight. Walker has been stopped in his last two fights against lesser fighters than Chagaev in Alex Leapai and Johnathon Banks. Chagaev should be able to win this one.

Chagaev, 32, will likely be WBA heavyweight champion David Haye’s next opponent unless Haye chooses to fight one of the Klitschko brothers. Chagaev defeated Kali Meehan on his last fight in a WBA heavyweight eliminator bout to get the shot against Haye. Last year, Chagaev was stopped by IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in the 9th round in a one-sided fight in Germany.
